SEA adds portable SHOL training application

Published 17th May 2017

Cohort company SEA is providing a new portable training application to the Royal Norwegian Navy enhancing its DECKsim Flight Deck Officer training system.

SEA will supply a Ship/Helicopter Operating Limits (SHOL) training application on a ruggedized laptop that will allow trainees to understand the impact of different environmental and operational constraints upon the safe operating limits for helicopters operating from Royal Norwegian Navy ships.

Use of the training application will highlight the safe range of wind speeds and directions for each operational procedure to be carried out on the ships flight deck, re-enforcing the knowledge, skills and attitudes required by the Flight Deck Officers.

SEA’s DECKsim Flight Deck Officer trainer is in use both in the UK and overseas. The use of a ruggedized laptop now takes DECKsim training outside of the classroom and allows trainees to conduct refresher training whilst doing airfield training simulating the conditions on a ship.
