Background and experience
Chris started his career at GEC-Marconi in 1999 whilst studying for a BEng (Hons) Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Oxford Brookes. After graduating in 2001 Chris returned to what was by then BAE SYSTEMS Avionics as a Mechanical Engineer in the Electro-Optics (EO) business working on EO systems for UK, US and export customers on land, sea and airborne platforms. Chris held roles in Systems Engineering, Engineering Management and Capability Management, latterly with transnational responsibility across UK and Italy.
In 2014 Chris moved to Edinburgh as Programme Manager for AESA Surveillance Radars responsible for the development and delivery of radars to worldwide customers. In 2019, he was appointed Vice President of the Surveillance & Protection Technologies sector, in the Electronic Warfare (EW) line of business in Luton, responsible for the P&L for a portfolio of EW products.
In 2022, Chris was appointed Vice President of Sensors sector responsible for the sector P&L and the Southampton site, the UK’s only semiconductor foundry for Infrared Detectors. In 2023, Chris was appointed Senior Vice President for the Integrated Sensing & Protection line of business in Leonardo UK, responsible for a P&L of circa £300m p.a. with 1,000 people across 2 sites and a product portfolio spanning EO, EW & Comms.
In February 2026 Chris joined Cohort as Chief Operating Officer, bringing the benefit of his 26 years of experience in product development, programme delivery and general management of relevant defence technology businesses.
